R Mountain

For FHE on Monday my "family" was going to go to the Sand Dunes and have a bonfire and smores. For some reason though, it changed very last minute. It was because no one was able to go due to homework...but we changed the plans and suddenly the ones that had homework were finished. Whatever. So, we went to hike R Mountain. Honestly, this is more like a pitchers mound than a mountain...as though I thought from the bottom of it. As we started our climb my roomie, Keelie and I take off and are in front of the pack. We're just chugging along, chattin, while the rest of the pack was way behind. As we got further up it became more steep. OK, not a problem if you have hiking boots or shoes with good traction. FYI: Converse/ Vans are NOT hiking shoes! 5 out of 10 were wearing converse or vans. So needless to say we stopped because it was difficult to climb.  As we sat and took a rest and figured out how we would go back down the hill. It got darker and darker and cold. I decided to sit down and scooch down the hill. It worked until you started to slide fast and had no control and rocks cut your hands open and made holes in your jeans. As one by one figure out how to go down, complaining they're going to fall and break something, we made it down. Haha. Two of the guys and a girl went all the way to the top. They had good shoes on.

Anyways, as we hiked, took some pictures. They aren't too good but here is what we looked like!

The view was incredible!

Thats my roomie and I way up there!

The rest of the pack behind!

Some going back down!

Taking a rest, admiring the sunset!

I think at this point we said "Dance Party"

Trying to pose!

Thats us!

So I think next time someone says the word hike and whether you think it's a mound or a mountain, maybe you should just wear better shoes. Period. I bet you'll remember this for a while. HA
